I’m Sarah, the PNW native behind BRAEVIN. Outside of the creative world, I’m an extroverted introvert, passionate about Jesus, and deeply connected to family and friends. I love food, travel and am obsessed with trees and the outdoors. When I’m not designing or photographing, you will most likely find me watching the Blazers, doing something outside (running, hiking, snowboarding) or sharing stories over a good cup of coffee or local IPA.
Real people. Real stories. Real moments.
Driving growth through focused strategy and organization.
Putting clients first and laughing, a lot.
Explore, adventure, and try new things.
Back in 2007 (and again in 2013), I had the privilege of traveling to Rwanda, Africa on a three-week service trip. My new interest in taking photos prompted me to bring along my camera. One evening, while playing with some of the Rwandan children next to our guest house I naturally had my camera by my side. Before too long, I had kids swarming around my legs wanting their photo taken just so they could see their image on the display screen. I was awestruck by the joy it brought to these kiddos just to see their faces, realizing some had never before seen a photo of themselves. Seeing those gorgeous Rwandan eyes light up when I took their picture inspired me. STORY. So much to see in those eyes, so much more I wanted to capture and preserve.
This was where my creative journey began; a dream to use my photos to bring joy and influence life change by allowing others to feel and see their inner and outer beauty - exactly the way they were created, and to help tell their stories.
Today I bring my Graphic Design and Business degree from Oregon State (go Beavs!), design agency and Nike experience and my 7 year old "Sarah Gillihan Photography" business into one new brand: BRAEVIN.
The name comes from John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing”. In order for my business to grow, I (a branch) must be rooted in The Vine. The word “BRAEVIN” is simply a blending of the words BRANCH and VINE as a constant reminder of where my roots are planted and the One from whom I draw my strength.
