FAQ: Your questions, answered!

I’m taking some of your most frequently asked questions and answering them here for easy reference and access. You can also find these over on my contact page!

What’s included in a brand design package?

I always start with a mood board to help set the tone, vision and inspiration for the project and make sure we’re on the same page as we move forward. Then, I create 2-3 “logo families” for us to edit, refine and consolidate down to a final logo family. A logo family includes a primary logo, secondary logos and small brand marks to meet the variety of your brand’s marketing needs. The logos work cohesively so you can use them interchangeably.

You’ll walk away with: all final files in various sizes and file types, a color palette with color codes, suggested typography, and brand guidelines to reference how/when/where to use your new branding.

Available add-on services: business cards, print and digital collateral, social media graphics and strategy, and pretty much any other creative piece your business needs.

For collateral design, are printing and shipping fees included?

Nope! For print collateral the client will be responsible for all printing and shipping fees. However, I will assist you through the ordering process and finding vendors that are a good fit.

The client will also be responsible for their Squarespace subscription fee, and any other fees related to their website (email address, domain name, etc.). I will guide you through getting everything set up, and my clients receive a 20% discount on their first year of Squarespace!

Why would I pay you to design my website on Squarespace, when I could do it myself for free?

#1 TIME
As a website designer, I live and breathe Squarespace. I’m in it every single day, and know the features, settings and capabilities inside and out. While Squarespace is very user friendly, it will save you a lot of time (and frustration) to simply explain your vision to me, and then watch it come to life in a fraction of the time it would take you to start from scratch. Your time is better spent running your business and doing what you love!

#2 CUSTOMIZATION
I use Squarespace as a base and then heavily build out and customize the website to fit your brand. I create custom code for features specific to your needs and desires that aren’t readily available in the basic templates Squarespace offers. I match fonts, colors and style settings to your brand guidelines to create a seamless look. I have access to an exclusive Squarespace community for designers that allows for troubleshooting, problem solving and design hacks beyond the standard support Squarespace offers.

Do you still do portrait photography and weddings?

Portraits - yes! While I don’t advertise portrait sessions, I still offer them. Family sessions, engagement photos and senior sessions are still available for booking. Go ahead and fill out the contact form above or send me an email to chat more.

Weddings - nope! After 8 years of shooting weddings, I decided to “retire” from that aspect of the business in 2018. I loved documenting so many big days for couples and have incredible memories from that season of life. However, I am also very thankful to have my summer weekends back. :)

What types of photography do you offer?

Portraits: Families, Couples, Engagements, Seniors

Business: Head shots, Product, Team photos

Interiors: Residential, Commercial

What if I live in a different state? Can i still hire you for graphic design?

You bet! In fact, most of my clients are out of state, and it’s no problem at all! We have an initial call over the phone, and then most of the process and correspondence is continued via email.

What are your business hours and email response time?

Ideally, my business hours are Monday through Friday, 9am - 5pm PST.

Realistically, I’m a toddler mama with a schedule that’s constantly changing, and sometimes my most productive work hours are 5am, 8pm, or Saturday afternoons. So if you receive an email from me at a strange hour - that’s why! :)

The bottom line: I typically respond within a few hours to emails, but please allow up to 48 hours for me to get back to you. If you haven’t heard from me by then, don’t hesitate to send another email to check in, just in case something didn’t go through.

What types of files will I receive after the project?

Print and web resolution versions of each logo variation in PNG, JPG and vector files. If a vendor, sponsor, partner, or printer asks for a different file type or format than what I provide, I’m happy to mock up whatever you need!

How long does the design process take?

The brand design process typically takes 4-6 weeks, and website design takes an additional 6-8 weeks. These timelines are fully contingent upon client response time, and the amount of revisions we make. I value efficiency, so if you can be prompt with responses, we can move through the process smoothly!

If you have a specific timeline or deadline you need to meet, please let me know so we can work together on a timeline and plan accordingly.
