Looking back on 2023

Time is flying and most days I have no idea what month it is. With a newborn in our arms last December, I skipped a 2022 recap, but I’m back this year to reflect on all things 2023. It was a year filled with lots of diapers, potty training, park trips, over 900 hours of outside time, and minimal (but very productive!) work hours. Balancing work and home life is challenging, but I’m loving every minute of being both mama and business owner.

2022-2023 highlights

Early mornings and late nights are how I get the bulk of my work done these days with two littles at home, but somehow 2022 and 2023 were still big years for the business.

Including:

  • 13 new clients

  • 30 return / ongoing clients

what I learned

It’s important to set realistic expectations with myself and clients for how quickly I can turn projects around. Gone are the days of insanely fast turnaround times, and I’ve learned to clearly communicate timelines upfront so that everyone is on the same page.

what brought joy

New branding clients in industries that I haven’t worked in before that were outside of my normal style and so much fun, and obviously watching our kiddos grow and develop is the greatest joy of all.

looking ahead

I’ve been scaling back on photography to create more margin for my design clients. It’s been refreshing to schedule fewer shoots after 13+ years of taking photos. I’m still doing some, but being more selective with what I say yes to. I also have some fun promos launching in 2024 for existing website clients that I can’t wait to roll out!

See ya 2023!
